Pépé le Moko, one of France's most wanted criminals, hides out in the Casbah section of Algiers. He knows police will be waiting for him if he tries to leave the city. When Pépé meets Gaby, a gorgeous woman from Paris who is lost in the Casbah, he falls for her.

In 1907, the Gaumont Films company in France made a slapstick comedy (silent, of course) with a title that would translate from the French as 'A gentleman who ate some bull'. Eugene Deslow got hold of that film and added an introduction plus a soundtrack, the latter consisting of commentary narrated by the single-named actor Bétove.

After the divorce of her parents, Colette gets sent to her grandfather's who she never really knows. Mrs. Lapierre, her new governess is very severe indeed. Later, due to their disputes, Colette runs away from home and gets sick.

In 19th century France, Jean Valjean, a man imprisoned for stealing bread, must flee a relentless policeman named Javert. The pursuit consumes both men's lives, and soon Valjean finds himself in the midst of the student revolutions in France.

Monique is an ingenue, a clueless girl who believes in true love. A marriage is the only thing a decent girl must long for. When she discovers that her future husband has a lover, she rebels against her bourgeois family.

A prominent woman has a very valuable diamond for which she accepts an offer from a jeweler. Two scoundrels plot to rob her of the diamond before she can part with it. They waylay her and carry her off to a house where they demand from her the diamond. With a smile she shows them the receipt for a registered package as she had deemed it safer to send it by this means. Later she takes them off their guard and escapes. An exciting automobile chase now takes place, ending with the car in which the would-be diamond robbers are seated being hurled over the cliff to destruction.
