The first feature documentary directed by Kim Dong-ho, former festival director of the Busan International Film Festival, this film captures the present landscape of theaters and films across Asia through the eyes of a seasoned film professional. Now retired from public service, Kim travels with his camera to document the post-pandemic cinematic ecosystem, visiting theaters and film festivals in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, and beyond, and gathering memories and concerns from filmmakers along the way. Prominent figures like Lee Chang-dong, Park Chan-wook, Bong Joon-ho, Kore-eda Hirokazu, Tsai Ming-Liang, and Garin Nugroho eagerly share their thoughts on the fate of theaters and the future of cinema. What begins as a survey of the current state of theaters evolves into an emotional chronicle and an opportunity to reflect on the essence and sustainability of cinema.

In the dead of night, a body donated for organ transplants mysteriously disintegrates into ashes. After losing her laundry store to a fire incident, a single mom Duk-hee receives a call from a bank offering a generous upfront loan so she takes it right away. But soon after, she finds out that she has become a victim of a voice phishing scheme. Devastated, Duk-hee turns to the police for help, only to be more disappointed that there is no hope of retrieving her money. At the moment of despair, Jae-min, the phisher who tricked her, rings her phone once again to tip Duk-hee off about the criminal organization that locked him up and coerced him to make voice phishing calls from China. With that call, Duk-hee makes up her mind to investigate this case for herself and take a plane to China with her friends.

Gi-se is a failed comedian and estranged son of a mob boss who left his hometown for the city years ago. After his father’s death, his gag show shuts down and he becomes jobless overnight. He decides to return to his hometown, where he meets his old friends and first love Young-shim. He tries to find his place to belong and dreams of a new life. But soon things change radically and he finds himself inheriting his father’s position as a local crime boss that leads him to face the truth about his father’s death.
