Eight-year-old Zoran is the hero of this story set in Skopje during the German occupation of the city in World War II. Through his eyes, we experience all the cruelty, poverty and suffering of wartime. A love affair between his Macedonian mother and a German officer will help his family get through the hard times…

"Skoplje '63" is a 1964 Yugoslavian documentary film directed by Veljko Bulajić about the 1963 Skopje earthquake (Skoplje, per film title, is the Serbo-Croatian spelling of Skopje). The filming started three days after the earthquake and lasted for four months. After that, Bulajić spent 12 months editing the footage at Jadran Film studios.

A story about a family that lives in the most polluted capital in Europe, Skopje and struggles with the decision to move away from its hometown.

Skopje earthquake happened on July 26, 1963, which killed over 1,070 people, injured between 3,000 and 4,000 and left more than 200,000 people homeless. About 80 percent of the city was destroyed.

Upon the liberation of Skopje on the 25th September 1918, the cameramen of the Cinematographic section of Photography department of the Serbian Army filmed the town's appearance, local musical orchestras, Dusan's bridge, entry of the military units into town, citizens on the town streets, station Ajvatovac close to Skopje, as well as escorting of the captive Bulgarian soldiers through the town.
