Sonja Ek is living a peaceful suburban life with her husband Fredrik and their three children. She runs her own accounting firm from her home in a nice Stockholm suburb. Everything changes when her husband is brutally murdered outside their home. Now, she is all alone with a debt she didn't know she had and that has to be paid.

Sonja and her children Nina, Gustav and Linus are back in Sweden after hiding in Australia for a year.

Despite the wish to keep the family out of the criminal circles, Sonja is once again drawn back into a lawless world of violence and brutal settlements -this time to save her children. Her family is at risk of ending up in the claws of ruthless criminals that will do anything to get what they want. Sonja is forced to use drastic measures if she is to have a chance of saving her family.

Sonja wakes up after a six-month coma to find the world and her children have moved on without her: Nina is pregnant with Zac’s child, Linus lives in a foster home and Gustav is studying at the police academy. But some things never change: Sonja learns she has a price on her head courtesy of the Colombian cartel and must take desperate measures to pay them off. But the more she tries to put out the fire, the more the conflagration spreads out of control…

Three years have passed since Sonja staged her own death. Sonja wants to leave her role as the Major and must travel to Stockholm to retrieve something that can absolve them from their life of crime for good. Her whole family is at stake.

The family is reunited, but the pressure they have lived under for so long is starting to take its toll and it is eating away at the cohesion. How are they going to get back to a life of freedom?
