This telenovela is full of secrets. The plot releases love stories, hate, friendship, revenge, friendship, hate and many surprises. The exciting story of Flame of Life shows a love growing interest started in two childhood friends who haven’t seen each other for many years and are bring back together in a tragic moment.

A story about people who succeed in life thanks to nothing but their own efforts. Maria do Carmo is the main character of the telenovela; a mother of five who struggle to be successful in life, but whose most important will be recovering the love of her daughter who was kidnapped when she was just months old.

The synopsis was loosely inspired by an argument by Paulo José called Cidade das Formigas. It was based on what happened in the city of Formiga, in Minas Gerais, where women work for large clothing manufacturers in the country. In Formiga Real, women guarantee a large part of their families' livelihood with this work.

The series exhibited several stories based on folklore and mythology , with characters such as Cuca, Saci Pererê and Iara from Brazilian folklore and then later with several characters from fairytales, fables, literature and greek mythology. The residents of Sítio, Emília, Narizinho, Pedrinho, Dona Benta and Tia Nastacia live several adventures with a lot of the mystery and dangers that haunt the remote town of Arraial do Tucanos.
