In 1895 Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia, amid preparations for a major trade fair, the murder of a wealthy nobleman occurs. Detective Aleksey Lykov investigates, uncovering a sinister plot that endangers his life as he pursues the truth.

Mitya, after eight years of study at the St. Petersburg Medical University, returns to his native village of Ozernoe, somewhere in the vast south of Russia. His family, friends and the whole village in general are waiting for him with pride and impatience - after all, earmarked funds were spent on his studies, and a young doctor is also very much needed in the local hospital. But everyone is surprised to learn that Mitya is not a surgeon, not a dentist, and not even a urologist, but a psychologist-sexologist. Conservative residents do not accept Mitya, they call him a "pussy doctor", his own father threatens to recant, but Mitya does not give up. Because he knows how much help is needed for people who are unenlightened in sexual matters, who have tabooed the topic of "this very one" for generations and live in a world of myths, superstitions and prejudices.

The brilliant cashier Alexey Voronov goes on the run. Fearing persecution, he decides to plant a "drop" instead of himself, Yura Afanasyev, a provincial loser, like two drops of water similar to Voronov himself. However, the ideal plan gets out of control: Voronov gets shot in the head, and Afanasyev is saved by Alexei's guards, mistaking him for his boss.

Three boxers from Chelyabinsk decide to earn extra money at the Moscow tournament on fights without rules before flying to the World Championship. A few years ago, she already had to flee from her native St. Petersburg to a seaside town to save her life. After all, Rita is the only living carrier of the formula that her pursuers really need.
