Kishibe Midori (Ikeda Elaiza), an editor for a popular fashion magazine, finds herself transferring to the lexicography division following the magazine's discontinuation. The place is filled with a group of quirky characters, led by Majime Mitsuya (Noda Yojiro), a boss with a shaggy hair who is extremely serious. While being tossed about by them, Midori is influenced by their patience and passion for making a dictionary which takes over a decade, and she gradually immerses herself in the work. This drama depicts their struggles in creating and finalizing the dictionary, "The Great Passage."

Minami Hinako is the company president of Office CAT, a mysterious detective agency that accepts requests from women who wish to have help with their relationship issues. The company’s objective is not just to facilitate a breakup for the client, but to “abduct” the targeted individual. Otherwise known as “Thief Cat” Minami Hinako has a 100% robbery success rate. She skilfully manipulates her appearance and personality to make the target fall for her, thus tearing apart relationships between men and women. One day, the company receives a request from a woman named Hayakawa Risa, asking for help in stealing away her abusive boyfriend.

Yui Saizo is a single, 29 year old woman and works in the crime laboratory at the Takanashi Police Station as a forensics examiner. She does her job well, due to her excellent memory and analytical mind. She prioritizes efficiency at her work. She also eschews the old-fashioned and traditional ways at the police station, like, working overtime or being liked by colleagues. She does have two close female colleagues at the police station. They are Masumi Kira and Iori Motoyama. Masumi Kira works as a physician in the medical office and Iori Motoyama works in the traffic department. Every Friday night, these 3 women gather at an izakaya pub and chat about everything including work and relationships. One Friday night, during the course of their normal conversation, they talk about a case that detectives at the police station are having trouble solving. Since then, they talk about difficult cases and try to solve the cases using their respective talents.

Wako Machida is an editor for a manga magazine. She focuses on her work and she doesn't have time to think about making herself look beautiful. Meanwhile, Meguru Sōma is good at adorning himself, and he is surrounded by beautiful things. He works at a fashion shop as a model. These two people, who are quite different from each other, begin to date.

This series is adapted from manga Akuma to Love Song by Toumori Miyoshi. Kawai Maria transfers to Totsuka High School after being expelled from her previous school.
