The story of experienced and cynical cop Pavel Safronov, who is in a coma, and whose soul has been transferred into a stray dog. The only one who can hear the policeman's voice is his young partner, Lieutenant Slava Kurochka, who has just started his career in the police force. Together with the dog, he will investigate crimes, repeatedly finding himself in comical situations.
Ivan, a young Ukrainian peasant, robs the Moscow Tsar of precious jewels. He also accidentally steals a magical heirloom, now in the hands of the Sich leader, Koshovy, in his Ukrainian Cossack Fortress.
