Local Heroes is an award-winning science and history television programme in the United Kingdom, presented by Adam Hart-Davis. Made by Screenhouse Productions and directed by Paul Bader, it was first aired on the ITV regional network Yorkshire Television in 1991. In the show, Adam Hart-Davis, dressed in the pink and yellow cycling clothes that would became the show's trademark, rode around the YTV region on a matching pink and yellow bicycle, stopping in a particular area to tell the stories of scientists that lived or were born there. After 30 years of peace is Kisawazu, the Eight Swords of Sealing are scattered from the Yatsurugi Shrine once more. This even reawakens the Undersea Empire Zabun, who plan on finding the swords and using them to reawaken their master King Orga. As well as them, the mystical embodiment of the phoenix, Yatsurugi, arrives and merges with Takeru Yamato, a young fisherman and regular visitor to the shrine. Now with this new power, Yatsurugi, and eventually the similar deity Kisara, come forth to stop the unsealing of King Orga and return the Swords to the Shrine, as had been dne for many generations before them.

GBH was a seven-part British television drama written by Alan Bleasdale shown in the summer of 1991 on Channel 4. The protagonists were Michael Murray, the Militant tendency-supporting Labour leader of a city council in the North of England and Jim Nelson, the headmaster of a school for disturbed children. The series was controversial partly because Murray appeared to be based on Derek Hatton, former Deputy Leader of Liverpool City Council — in an interview in the G.B.H. DVD Bleasdale recounts an accidental meeting with Hatton before the series, who indicates that he has caught wind of Bleasdale's intentions but does not mind as long as the actor playing him is "handsome". In normal parlance, the initials "GBH" refer to the criminal charge of grievous bodily harm - however, the actual intent of the letters is that it is supposed to stand for Great British Holiday.
