"This Is Spinal Tap" shines a light on the self-contained universe of a metal band struggling to get back on the charts, including everything from its complicated history of ups and downs, gold albums, name changes and undersold concert dates, along with the full host of requisite groupies, promoters, hangers-on and historians, sessions, release events and those special behind-the-scenes moments that keep it all real.

A three-member television crew from Zagreb comes to the island of Hvar to do an interview with Boris Buncuga, also known as Lavanderman, the first islandic superhero who fights againts moths, mosquitoes, insomnia, headache and vertigo with his lavander powers. Boris gained nationwide popularity after the publication of two comic books about his adventures, but he has so far stubbornly refused to talk to the press. It soon becomes clear why this time Boris bowed: Lavanderman does not hide his affection for the beautiful female journalist. In the meantime, through conversations with a number of characters, complemented by archival footage and narration, we learn the truth about this comic book hero.

Ermisendo, a young man who lives in a forgotten indigenous region, discovers that his biological father is the presidential candidate Juan Carlos Kelqueyec. Through Ermisendo, Kelqueyec will try to sympathize with the people and win in the polls.

Eric and Ramzy are working as window washers at the Montparnasse skyscraper in Paris. Thinking that he has a date set up with beautiful executive Marie-Joelle (who in reality hates his guts), Ramzy stays at work late while Eric hangs around with him. As a result, the pair witness a gang of terrorists seize the tower and take its late-night occupants (including Marie- Joelle) hostage. Knowing that only they can save the day, Eric and Ramzy swing into action.
